Material

Aluminum Unit Headers are made from aluminum extrusion 6005-T5. The extrusion is shaped to provide two internal ribs along the entire length of the header, allowing full thread depth and accurate and secure taps along both tap lines.

Available diameters are 1-inch and 2-inch International Pipe Standard (IPS) with schedule 40 wall thickness. Maximum one-piece length is 240 inches (20 feet). Longer headers can be coupled.

Construction

One-piece construction offers a smooth interior finish (free from pipe scale, solder lumps, or weld spatter) for clean fluid flow, neat appearance, and easy maintenance.

Unit Headers are designed for use in standard instrumentation and control applications with a working pressure limit of 150 psi. Contact the factory for requirements above 150 psi and/or other process conditions.

Tap Sizes

Standard tap sizes for Stock Unit Headers and Specified Unit Headers are 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" National Pipe Taper (NPT). However, 1/2" NPT size is only available on the larger (2" IPS) pipe size. On Custom Unit Headers the same sizes are available as well as metric and British tap sizes.

Shipment

Prompt shipment and quick delivery (direct from the factory) is standard for all types of Unit Headers. Individual pieces in longer lengths may require special packing support, skid, etc. to protect the fabricated header.

Factory offer is for fabricated header extrusions, end fittings, and related items. It does not include any pre-assembly or any testing of the header. Contact the factory for information on assembly, assembly for testing, and testing.

Notes:

Note tap spacing and be sure that valves will have room to rotate into position. Valve bonnets may need to be removed for assembly. Typical tap spacing is 2 to 3 inches. Minimum is 1.5".

Care with assembly required! End threads and tap threads are soft and will gall if cross threaded with cap, reducer, union, valve, or nipple threading. Please use joint compound to seal and lubricate the threaded connection and use a slow careful hand in screwing on all attachments. Please be sure that threads are aligned before tightening.
