JCWCo Announces 12-Foot Standard Length on All Stainless Steel Structural Members

Greenville, SC – 18 November 2009 – James C. White Company, Inc. announces 12-foot standard length on stainless steel. Standard length for all stainless steel straight structural members (angles and channel and flat) for both TUBETRACK® and CABLE-RACE® are now being set at twelve (12) feet. This change from the company’s longstanding standards on length is made now to increase effectiveness and efficiency in ordering, shipping, and handling of material once it has arrived on the jobsite.

The 12–foot length standard will apply to both T304 and T316 parts. It will apply to angle, all seven sizes of channel, all four widths of channel covers, and all three widths of flat, including the 30 parts listed below:

2” X 2” Angle (T304) 1” wide Channel Cover (T304)
2” X 2” Angle (T316) 1” wide Channel Cover (T316)

6” X 1” Channel (T304)
6” X 1” Channel (T316)

Previously, standard lengths for stainless members were a mix of 20-foot and 10-foot, which was often required to match limited quantity production runs and limited footage shipping bundle requirements of the more specialized material. The change to 12-foot will be the best of both worlds, facilitating lower cost production runs of all shapes and quantities (as well as specials) and easier handling during shipment and construction.

In the few weeks ahead there may be some availability of old lengths on some angles and channels. Lengths other than our new 12-foot standard may be quoted during this interim time. If so, please take note and communicate your preferences to our sales staff.

The standard straight lengths of other materials (metals other than stainless steel) will not be changed. 20-foot will remain the standard for all angles and channels in galvanized steel, and aluminum. 10-foot will remain the standard for flat straight lengths in galvanized steel and aluminum.
